My Kindle Unlimited Obsession & Urban Fantasy Bookish Essentials

Engulf yourself a world of infinite tales, discover the marvel of books. Discover Freedom.

If there’s one subscription I can’t live without, it’s Kindle Unlimited. It’s my secret weapon for devouring book after book without wrecking my bank account. Whether it’s discovering new indie authors, binge-reading an entire paranormal romance series, or finding hidden gems in the urban fantasy world, KU is my happy place.

But let’s be honest—bookish life goes beyond just the books. There are so many little treasures that make the reading (and writing) experience even better. Some of my personal must-haves? Book sleeves to keep my precious paperbacks safe, cute and functional bookmarks, and my trusty Kindle Paperwhite (seriously, the warm light feature is a game-changer). Oh, and let’s not forget a sprinkling of 'literary' candles that make your room smell like an enchanted library. Okay, okay, so the candle I love is a personalized zodiac candle. Not book-y per se ... but definitely fits with the PNR/UF theme ;)

On a more personal note, here’s a little secret: I’m actually a healthcare professional by day. During the chaos of Covid, I picked up my pen, desperately craving an escape from reality. What started as a way to cope turned into a world of stories I never wanted to leave. Now, with four books and three novellas published, I find myself juggling NHS shifts with writing marathons.

Writing has given me back a part of myself I didn’t realize I had lost—a creative spark, a sense of purpose beyond the day-to-day grind. It’s funny how pouring your soul into stories (or where ever your passion lies) can heal parts of you that you didn’t know were broken.

Sometimes, we all need to do the unexpected—to follow our dreams, to chase what excites us, and to believe that it’s never too late. So here I am, chasing my stories, one page at a time. Finding my spark. And, I hope, passing it on to you!

For anyone balancing a day job and a creative passion, know this: it’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it. And if you’re curious about any of the bookish treasures I mentioned (or want to check out my Kindle Unlimited obsession for yourself), I dropped some Amazon affiliate links. Because let’s face it—bookworms need their gear.

Until next time, keep turning those pages and chasing those stories. Chasing Creativity.
